Day 126

New camera fun

Todd bought a new Nikon d50... we have been patient in deciding what we needed... but a new digital has been a must.

Here is a sampling of the amazing photos it can take.

Day 124

Butternut skiing fun

Our second day out skiing this year. I am so relaxed I am not sure what to do with myself. It feels wonderful to get home from a fun day on the slopes, take a hot shower, cuddle up with a book, and read.

I love vacation.

Day 122

Cooking with Kevin

Kevin and I decided to take on a cooking project that may have been a bit much for us... but worked out okay in the end... not perfect, but okay.

We decided to make caramels. Delicious, right?

Well, the first batch was just runny... so we put it back in the pan and reheated and refollowed the directions...

Second batch... still runny, but a bit better.

We went with the chill and serve method, and they were wrappable... and hopefully edible, too.

We will have to try again next year.

These are also the colorful veggies that went into the soup that Kevin is taking to the Gilbert family for me. Yummy.

I am home for a snow day... making blog graffiti with this link I found this morning. http://metaatem.net/words/
I love snow days.
It also means I am officially on my winter break.
What a glorious feeling.

I am waiting now to hear about Nina, who went into labor last night... Baby Joey should be here by now... or any time now.

Oh, I should make his name :-).

You know your kids love you when they build your name out of snap cubes.

Self Portrait Tuesday

I am joining a blog that posts and links to other self-portraits. There are some pretty amazing photos on here... and while I am humbled, I thought it would be fun.
Here is my first few attempts at this months theme: reflective surfaces.

Day 114

A snow day for me makes a long week-end, stress free.

Today I decided to make some fun stockings for Mollie. Thanks to Nina for the cute idea, but I didn't have the energy for a full-blown advent stockings. I did have the energy to make four... one for each of Mollie's paws. It is now the sole holiday decoration in our apartment. Our tree is in the inn... and we will celebrate at my parents.

She will get four treats... but I didn't put them in yet as I didn't want the stockings ingested.

Day 112

Assorted Thoughts

1. Pray for snow. No one likes a snow day more than a teacher (don't let the kids fool you). Could it be possible? Pray for me. Pray for school teachers everywhere.

2. My Christmas shopping is close to complete and included these cute new shoes for me. They were an early gift.

3. On Monday, our class visited a pet store to buy a hermit crab. When we arrived (after prior confirmation) there were none. So I thought about a lizard. No sell. They eat bugs. Live bugs. So I thought about a hampster. No sell. a. They poop alot. b. They are fast. c. It was female and "possibly pregnant". Great science lesson, but no.
We ended up buying our habitat and I went back tonight to buy the crab. I have temporarily named him Henry and am already kind of attached. I chose the most active in the bunch.
They also had puppies tonight and Todd may have gotten an early Christmas gift too, if I didn't have the sense to put the cuddly little pumpkin down. Then she cried. I almost did, too.

4. I bought Taco Bell on a whim. I was hungry and it was a late night after the staff meeting and the pet store. My hot sauce reads: "Nice palm. I read a great deal of pleasure in your future." Am I reading too much into this?
