This month's theme is a tough one for me... glam. I am not a glam girl and can't recall the last time that I wore make-up. I hope to be able to get creative in the next few weeks, but for now, I'll show off my most glamorous feature and add a touch of glam to hightlight.

here they go again...

Last night we went to Halloween party and were happy to get use of our new renaissance wear and happy to meet some new people and hang out with some young, fun people from work. After having an allergic reaction to "sulfites" and breaking out in hives, we were on our way to the party, through dark, dark back roads that led to a development in the middle of a corn field.
It was a nice chance to be social and get out of the house. There were lots of kids there and we had a blast tricking them with "Zultan" and making it talk to, and subsequently freak out, child after child. They were convinced. I saw one girl turn white as a ghost and back out of the room slowly after Zultan said her name.
Ah, grown-ups using chidren as entertainment. It doesn't get any better than that.
The time change has hit and after a long nap this afternoon I am again ready for bed (after some down time with a book). I can honestly say that this is the first time so far this school year that I am not dreading work in the morning. I am taking that as a good sign and am trying to stay in that positive energy. I didn't accomplish any of my goals or "to do's" for the week-end, so I am just revelling in the calm and the realxation. Perhaps I'll take a bath...

autumn bliss
I love the sting of warmth when you enter the house after a brisk autumn walk.
It's windy here and we woke to rain, although the day has brought some sun.
It is a day of relaxation and recooperation.
It is a day of welcoming this seasonal change and enjoying the fall leaves and chill in the air.
It's a day of satisfaction.

All we need is love
I am so glad that it is Friday, I can hardly say... It was the first week that I haven't felt totally out of control, so the routines and my expectations are coming in line for me. The stars are lining up and my patience is paying off. Let it remain so.

These are summer fun photos, that I smile to look back on. Ah, the love. I can't wait to spend the upcoming week-end with this man of mine. We have some semi-plans for a party tomorrow night and then the rest of the week-end will hopefully be spent quilting and relaxing and cooking and eating and organizing and planning and writing report cards. At least now, I only have to fill in a letter (N=Needs work, S=Satisfactory, G=Good, O=Outstanding) and I have been told to keep comments to a minimum. Hmmm... And just for that I have to grade and score hundreds of papers and assessments.

Sarah and Mags Come to Maryland, Part 3
Well, the girls had a real adventure. The ground was soggy but we decided to take the golf cart out for a spin anyway (the only way to walk a dog, if you ask me). We were piddling around the property when we got stuck... stuck deep... real stuck.
So after Sarah and I rocked it and pushed it and rocked it some more, we had to put Maggie down to really go at it. We put her in the "world's largest playpen" (the horse paddock) and then we managed to get the cart free. Maggie had a blast watching us and watching birds, and then we were able to go on our way.
A real adventure for the ladies.

Happy Birthday, Willy!
Today is Willy's 3rd birthday and I can hardly believe how time has gone by.
This photo was taken last week-end at his Superheroes party out in LaGrange Land.
Aren't they incredible???

Sarah and Mags Come to Maryland, Part 2
Entertaining Maggie.
For an aunt and uncle with no kids of their own, we did pretty good. I had shopeed the local Goodwill for some goodies and we had dolls, horses, blocks and a cupboard full of pots and pans. Maggie probably had the best time with a box, a pan, and a tupperware... but we kept her busy.
She liked doing yoga with her mama... and even got comfortable with Mollie after a while... This is still a tenuous relationship however and she is very hot and cold. Mollie is about 4 times her size, so who can blame her?

Sarah and Mags Come to Maryland
What better to do on a cool fall week-end then break out the new pizza kit and bake. We made cheesy cruchies, chocolate chip cookies, pizzas, and had plans to make more, but time got away from us. It was so nice to visit with Sarah over a bottle of wine, watch Maggie play around us and underfoot and just slow down to enjoy that they were here.

and then there was...
Fire.

It was a gift from a friend at the wedding and it was a fun treat for us all. One man show of fire. It was cool to watch and cooler to photograph.
I am obsessed.

imperfect habits
Oh, memories back to the days of trying to wear that awful tasting nail polish that was supposed to deter the biting...I have tried so, so hard to break this habit and yes, I am getting better (my husband helps) I just can't seem to break it altogether. Somehow, stress or boredom catch up with me ad I just can't stand the feeling of overgrown cuticles or an irregular nail... Of course biting doesn't help either problem but it makes me feel better at least.
TILT
Oh, the things that I love...
I love, love long week-ends with nothing going on except a few errands and some crafting. Ah, how nice to relax and catch up with myself. My long week-end treat was chinese food picked up on the way home with a big bucket of sweet tea... Then, to top it off, the Tivo-ed Finale of Project Runway. Sheer gluttany.

and then there was...
After being received by trumpets, there was the reception and I had a blast. I think I secretly want to be a wedding photographer because I had a great time taking pictures and just love some of them. The happiness in the first dance, Uncle Todd with baby Corinne, the groom with Jill and I, the garter toss, and the bouquet photo at the end is my all-time-favorite-ever action shot. The expressions and the movement. Mmmmm... Happy times.
