Day 257

Week-end Readiness Test

I am so grateful that it is Thursday.
Really, I am grateful that it is almost Friday. I have trained my class in the meaning of T.G.I.F. and they love it.
I love it too.
I am grateful to have a job that I love that makes the days speed by... but I am always happy for the week-end to arrive.

This week-end I am especially excited to go camping up on the West River in the Jamaica State Park in Vermont. We will be meeting many friends for a week-end of kayaking, cooking, drinking, playing bocce, tie dying, sleeping in tents, enjoying camp fires, and resting... maybe.

This is the readiness test... a refrigerator so full we can hardly close it and the crates full of snacks and food and dishes to go.
We are off!

Day 253

I killed my hermit crab.

After a week away from work I awoke with a start this morning before my return... I have forgotten something, but what!?! I was anxious and just got up knowing that I'd never get back to sleep. I was at work by 6:45 (crazy?). I walked into my classroom and there it was... that was what I forgot... my poor dead Hermi, dead with no water, out of his shell and all dried up, poor soul.
I was too ashamed to tell my kids so I hid him in my car before they came in.

I have yet to find a replacement... thankfully no one noticed...

Chicago Pictures: A Naked Maggie Installment

Day 249

Chicago Photo Installment Three

Spring fun in the front yard enjoying the morning sunshine.

Yeah for Easter Eggs. Willy was convinced that if they were colored you shoud be able to open them and find candy. He was thoroughly disappointed to find hard boiled egg. :-)

It poured on Easter. This is Willy's rain gear that he got for Christmas from his Auntie Em. Gotta love a bee.

Here's little Maggie with her Auntie all dressed up for Easter at the Takash's. We went to Joe's parents' for the day and ate and ate and ate. Maggie ate just about everything she could get her hands on. Of course, that mostly meant candy...

Day 248. part 2

Second Photo Installment: Fun at the Zoo

Day 248

First Photo Installment of an awesome Chicago visit. We had a whole lot of fun with Sarah, Joe, Willy, and Maggie running around the 'burbs, celebrating Easter and just playing around.

This is the local park. We walked over our first morning in town and Willy showed us all there was to see. He is such a boy all of a sudden, playing "power rangers" and baseball and fireman.

Big News

Big News

For those of you who have not yet heard, Todd and I are getting ready for a move... all the way to Maryland. Todd has accepted a position beginning on July 1st, 2006. He will be working as a caretaker of a family's home and horses. I am now in the market for a job, as well as all household items (everything now belongs to the inn).

We are excited and nervous and happy and sad all at once, but it will be a great move for us and we are looking forward to the change.
Wish us luck!

Take a peek at our new quarters... inside and out... and please come visit!!!

Day 241

Yellow Eye

So, my eye is still bothering me. It has been red and itchy and dry and feeling irritated and irritating for two weeks.

Yesterday my ear feels funny too. Today I break down and call the doctor. He looks. Sees nothing. He lays me back and anesthetizes my eye, adds dye, and looks for sties or abrasions.

Nothing.

Nothing wrong with my eye.

Nothing wrong with my ear.

He asks "have you been chewing gum?" I laugh to myself and answer, "no... uh uh" (my pride gets in the way of honesty... see last post for the truth).

So, there is nothing wrong with me. Except of course that my eye is red, irritated, dry, and itchy. Now, I can also add yellow.

SPT: April Fool's

How long has it been since you felt silly enough to chew a big, fat gob of sickly sweet bubble gum?

Thank you to Nina for a great birthday awesome gift. I love getting gifts in the mail, especially crazy fun boxes filled with random fabric and cards and magazines and tea towels and fun-ness. I am feeling so loved and spoiled.
