photoshop

so.
i am taking a class on photoshop to figure it out.
its is a really bizarre program that is not at all intuitive or logical, but we are learning slowly. each thursday, we have begun to just play around with silly images and see what we can do. i am certainly not an expert, but here is tonight's fun.
after the disk that i brought with me was blank, i had to use images from my blog to play with... little easton and a big flower.

easton, age 6 weeks

we went for another visit with our little man, now two weeks from coming home. easton was a cuddle ball until we set him down in the grass and then he put it in fifth gear and ran circles around us, chewed on our feet, jumped over us, and came back for some more.
he is a perfect ball of energy and love. it was fun to visit with him, let him smell us a bit, attach his name to him, and just to play.
i'm in love.
does it get any cuter than a tiny dog in a huge tractor?

spring is in the air

what a lovely, lovely week-end. it was full of fun and love and thoughts of spring. the weather has been spoiling us, and todd has been spoiling me.

we watched 'the devil wears prada' on friday over delivered pizza after flashing our kitchen lights so that the delivery man could find our house in the middle of nowhere. and todd was a doll to watch a silly chick flick with me. pure silliness.

saturday was full of errands to the post office and book store to buy us a new book about golden retrievers. we have been doing our research to get ourselves ready. we played my new karaoke american idol game into the evening and i whooped up on todd belting out ballads like every rose has its thorn, more than words, and total eclipse of the heart. i even unlocked "straight up" and got to sing out paula style. good, clean, laugh at yourself humorous fun. then last night i spent a couple hours writing up all of my report cards to turn in on monday. now that is a fun saturday night, let me tell you.

today meant a visit to see easton (see following post), breakfast sandwiches from the local deli, open windows to let in the fresh air, a run, a work-out, lesson planning, cups of coffee, and a nice long walk and swim for mollie.

i guess i am ready for the week ahead.
here's to spring.

quotes for the day

on poverty:
boy: remember when i saw you in the afternoon?
girl: yeah, in the projects.
boy: yeah.
girl: do you have two or three bedrooms in your apartment?
boy: two.
girl: we have four in our townhouse, mine is bratz and my sister's is dora and my mom and dad have a deep tub and a wide screen tv.
boy: yeah, we have four rooms too... lots of people sleep in our living room lots of times.

on after school:
secretary: i am going to go home and curl up in a brown bottle.
me: i am thinking of having movie night.
secretary: well, i am hoping to go home and do things that i won't remember.

on dreams:
boy: i had a dream that i had this gun and the gun was real, but i didn't know it so i shot it and i shot the back of this other kid in the head. then i kept shooting and i killed the whole world and then turned the gun to kill myself.

on the alphabet:
sarah: oh, and you are now part of the alphabet. when maggie says the alphabet it is a,b,c,d, e,f, emily, k,l,m,n... you made it big.

my world can be interesting and overwhelming... it gives me perspective everyday on just how lucky we are.

things i love thursday: the real 29

yesterday was the most amazing birthday yet.
from a sleepy good morning from my sweetest husband...
to the "handful" child in my class being the first to rush in and give me a big hug, remembering my birthday...
to the cards and well wishes of my girls at work...
to the amazing fun gifts from todd (including an american idol karaoke game for playstation that is bound to bring fun our way)...
to the sunglasses and the nail files and the hand held blender...
to a great, great dinner out of homemade pasta and pesto...
to decaf coffee...
to carrot cake baked by my love...
to well wishes from my family and cards and packages a day late...
to e-cards...
to just hearing willy and maggie on the other end of the phone...
to watching the ai results show...
to 70 degree weather...
to daffodils growing all around.

5 things about me meme

thanks, nicole... for my first time tag.
i'd love to play along, so here are 5 things about me.

one: i love to sleep. i can sleep just about anywhere, anytime. naps can be the most favorite time of day. i love to go to bed early. i love to try to sleep late. if i have one fear for having children, it is that i will lose my precious time to sleep, sleep, sleep.

two: i have a love/hate relationship with my car. her name is jeannie and i love my time to and from work when i get to sip my coffee and listen to npr or books on tape. simultaneously, i have been mad at her ever since i crashed her last year in the snow. she's just never been the same. never will be. i know its my fault, but i can't help but take it out on her. yes, i have an established relationship with a vehicle. i am sure that someday i will be very sad to see her go. she'll have to fall apart first.

three: i get sick easily and often. i am always around germs, germs, germs, and no matter how much i wash my hands, i am constantly cuddling with little germy creatures that need all the love that i can give. i just can't resist hugs and cuddles, even when their noses are drippy and especially when they are sicky-sick and their parents have sent them to school anyway. you would think sleep would help toughen up that immune system, but...

four: i am not a fan of modern medicine yet i have been prescribed five new medicines in the last five months. i have been given three prescriptions to handle only my adult acne. :-) i have also been prescribed one medicinal lotion to rid myself of a weird bumpy thing on the backs of my arms, and a new birth control that will hopefully alleviate the acne with out having to take months worth of antibiotics. this was all after an hour long conversation with my gynecologist who i was secretly hoping would become friends with todd and i. he's married and about our age and doesn't have kids yet. however, he had just looked at my privates and i wasn't sure it would be professional to ask him if he and his wife would be our friends.

five: today is my birthday. i am 29. that makes me think back and reflect on the fact that a. i have a terrible memory and b. what i do remember is either bizarre enough that i question its validity or very mundane. my earliest memories include: singing "he's go the whole world in his hands" at preschool and getting a floppy record, eating liver off a blue plastic plate, and my kindergarten teacher terrifying us of balloons because of some poor, small child who choked and died. ah, those were the day.

I am not sure i'll get any response, but i am tagging blondie and todd.

meet easton

well, today in the paper i found some pure goldens for a good price and close to home... so out we went to look for the newest cranwell. the puppies are only 5 weeks old right now so we are waiting three more weeks to bring him home, but we put our down payment on him today after falling deeply in love.

his brothers and sisters gave us a run for our money, but we pulled out the available boys and todd took his pick. he snuggled right up to him and was happy as could be, milk mustache and all. he's going to be a charmer, alright.... i can't wait to get him home and introduce him to his big sister.

st. patty's day fun

the party was set for everyone to arrive... lots of irish beer and margaritas ready to flow for cinco de st. patrick's.
salty snacks and bacon wrapped jalapenos abound.
my new outfit was on, with a hot little bum in my new jeans (if i do say so myself).
mollie was the hit of the party, making friends and spending time happily underfoot while we played cards and ate and ate and ate.
we even had an ice cream cake to celebrate. (bobbi is a co-first-grade teacher who came over last night, too.)

then it was off to the races in st. michael's. we arrived just in time for the first heat of shopping carts to go by. glowsticks glowing, we were ready to cheer on the drunks as they raced by, narrowly escaping disaster each round. at least its all for a good cause.

it was a late night for all. up past our bedtimes and ready to hit our pillows when the time came. we were happily tired after an evening of laughter and smiles.

happy st. pat's

my pimped pic!

So, when you are bored in a computer lab there is a lot that you can do to entertain yourself. See?

It's been a long, long week so i am looking forward to a fun, fun week-end ahead.
green beer, friends, shopping cart races down main street, early birthday cake.
