Self Portrait Tuesday

Mom and I spent all of Sunday afternoon eating lasagne soup and lemon cake. We intended to scrapbook and ended up taking a break from that to sort through all the old family photos.
We looked at old pictures of my mom and dad before we were born, youthful and under the influence of the 70's.
We looked at happy pictures of my childhood.
We threw away awful pictures of my teen years.
It all came back to this favorite photo of me as a baby.
There are so many emotions that digging through the past brings up.
This photo was before all of that.
Innocent. Pure. Tiny.

The week-end's excitement has all boiled down to making whoopie pies.


Aside from errands, Project Runway, and walking Mollie, making whoopie pies was about all that we did.

I guess it fits in with my NY Resolution to make new foods- when I have a craving, we go to allrecipes and get a recipes, then the store for supplies, and then back to the kitchen to make it. Really it is quite an adventure. I also made yummy home-baked Mac and Cheese. Comfort food to sooth my most recent cold.

Now that I know that Jill and Kevin have received their wedding quilt in the mail, I can post a few photos of my most recently completed project.
A twin size quilt, covered in butterflies.

It's only been a year in the making. :-)

Day 157

Week-end happiness


The day was spent kayaking on the local Kinderhook, cold water, warm air. Then we ran our errands and went out to dinner. This photo was the happy, satisfied end of the day. Pure love.

Day 156

Architectural Feats

Well, I can't post my kids... but I can post the block structure that has been underway all week. It finally collapsed on Friday, and then took 11 children and one adult 25 minutes to put all the blocks away.

I know this isn't amazing to many of you- but I was facinated watching them create the building with so many angles, balancing blocks on blocks, and then adding more blocks to be balanced on those... all at an angle.

In the end the structure was about 3 feet tall and 7 feet wide. Created by kids that very rarely use triangles it was a fun and unique process for a teacher to watch.
