Day 230

An apologetic update

It feels like forever since I could inspire myself to sit in front of the keyboard and get together an entry.
Things have felt stressful and crazy as I think about finding a new job and send out applications. My friend, Maya, had also been visiting for the week... and we had fun... but I have been exhausted. Last week I felt energized and great... now, I feel tired. Just plain tired.

My eye is infected. That makes me feel like I should just always keep it shut.

I also broke my tv when trying to clean it. It shocked me, or I shocked it, and voila- the screen quit.

So even with that being said, I am having a delicious week-end.

First, I got an awesome package in the mail from my friend Robin. It was filled with fabric scraps of all kinds that can and will be used for many projects that I am already inspred to begin.

Last night I relaxed and began a baby quilt to donate to my school's auction. Today, I finished it.

Todd and I went kayaking today and the day started off beautifully. We had nice weather for most of the run, but a storm followed us down stream and we were caught in crazy wind and then pouring rain. We were already wet, so it didn't matter too much until we were ready to change out of our wet gear and get home. I love the feeling after a day of good exercise. My body feels healthy and worn and warm and a pleasant kind of achey.

I am off to bed for a night of deep sleeping, and hopefully, sleeping in in the morning.

Self Portrait Tuesday

Its about time...

It is about time... Time that I whipped my butt back into shape and into a routine. With the elimination of coffee and addition of tea, with counting my calories and eating up yummy and healthy treats, with my return to the gym and to the yoga mat.... I am feeling great and have lost 6 pounds in the past month.

It feels like I am me again.

Self Portrait Tuesday:Time

What better way to record time in March in New England than to look at the weather?

Day 218

Happy birthday to me.

I threw a party for myself at school today. We made cupcakes and sang and had a good ole time. Todd spoiled me too... post to follow.

I feel so incredibly blessed.

Day 216

Week-end fun

I spent some time finishing up a gift that should hit the mail this week... and then worked on making two belts- one for me and one for my cousin Chelse, who just turned 21. Matching green stripes... far from perfect, but I think they are kind of cute.

In celebration of my upcoming birthday, mom and dad took Todd and I out to brunch today. We went to the Dakota and ate more than three plates of omelettes, salad, and waffles. Yum. Way overfull, but once in a while you have to indulge. My sis sent this aerosmith shirt from chicago- 1978 concert tour (my birth year). W also have some history of being aerosmith fans... after front row seats many years ago. :-)

Dad picked this belt out for me, too. Cuter than the one I made, but I am willing to practice! Now I just need to get myself some clothes to coordinate.

Day 213

An apple for the teacher

I deserve one today! Our museum of Eric Carle style work went off without a hitch and looked amazing. We toured groups of students through and shared our stories.

"Please do not touch the things that we made because we worked very hard on them. Please ask in the K-1's."

"Do not touch!!!! Even if you are curious!!!!"

A beautiful, succesful moment to savor as a teacher.
