Day 303

I took a deep breath before I even began to type.

This week has been an emotional one.
I was non-stop busy crazed at the beginning of the week getting ready for the end of school, finishing reports, cleaning out my classroom jungle (literally and figuratively), preparing gifts for the kiddies, preparing me for good-byes...
The last day of school came and went and then it was just ... over.

Graduation that night was a beautiful things. It's 8th graders who are finishing up and getting ready for high school but each reads a beautifully written speech and, of course, everyone cries... or at least I do, and I assume everyone else must too.
This was the good-bye phase as I tried to get out and I cried as I said good-bye to the class and the parents and just as I felt like I was done, I'd go bit further down the hall, see someone else, and we'd cry again. It was hard to leave. It was a community that I was so grateful to be a part of and the families felt like "my" families, at least that it what I always called them... "my parents", "my kids"...
Thursday and Friday continued that whirlwind and I packed up my classroom some more, finished up all that paperwork, and then came home and packed up and finished up all the paperwork for here, too... I said good-bye to school and cried as I said my "see you laters" to all of the teachers and faculty there. What an amazing group of people to support me and make me feel so appreciated for what I do.
I was so grateful to have my mom here with me this week, slumber partying and talking. There is no better girlfriend than one's mom... assuming you have an awesome mom like mine. :-)

Now, the boxes are mostly packed. There is a realtor milling about the place because the owners have decided to sell it. I have those few odds and ends to finish up. I need to shower and prepare the guest innkeeper for our time away. I need to go to the post office. Then mom and I will leave to have manicures and pedicures and go out for dinner... and then I move on to their house, atleast until Monday when we leave for our trip.

So for now, two weeks away. (I am assuming I will not have internet access, but you never know...) Look for me in early July in Maryland and I will have LOTS of photos to post of our vacation, and our new place.See you later, alligator.
Adios, cinnamon toast.

TILT

Things I Love Thursday

I have seen this now on a few blogs and have decided to jump on the bandwagon. I seem to do better with blogging frequency when I have a set assignment. :-)

So today, I have already raved about my husband... the other love of my life is our girl, Mollie.
I miss seeing her when I walk through the door and hearing her sing out a happy song when I come home.

Day 301

Nina tagged me and I am missing my honey while he is all the way in Colorado, so here is my loving gift to him while he's gone. I can't wait to see him on Monday!

Two for Togetherness

2 things you compliment your husband on while in his presence.
1. His organization
2. His handsome face
2 compliments you make about your spouse to your friends.
1. He takes amazing care of me (and Mollie) always. I know no better man to do my laundry and wash my car.
2. His mellowness and his ability to bring out my mellow side too.
2 traits you married him for.
1. His ability to laugh at me when I jump on the bed or swim in the creek or act like a kid in general.
2. His desire to always strive to become a better person, to inspire me to do the same, and for us to grow together.
2 days you cherished the most with your husband being together.
1. A recent day when all I could do was cry and all he could do was hold me and kiss my tears and love me through every minute of it.
2. Everyday on a river or a ski mountain.
2 material things you could give your husband if you just inherited a fortune.
1. A work free-life in a "remote" location with a water park and ski mountain nearby.
2. A motocross track.
2 things you would miss the most if she/he left for two weeks. (He's gone right now!)
1. My good night kiss.
2. His cuddles in the morning as we lay in bed and talk about the day ahead.
2 things that crossed your mind when you first met/saw your spouse.
1. He's cute and interested in things that matter (he was reading a book by the Dalai Lama)
2. (next day) and he looks good in a sarong carrying a tray of fruit.
2 favorite dates
1. Breakfast out (preferably at the Blue Benn diner)
2. A half-day on a ski mountain followed by hot chocolate.
2 funny odd things you love.
1. The way he talks to our dog, Mollie, and the way that we can talk to each other with Mollie's thoughts (and/or voice)
2. His love for maps and his incessant need to cross reference the map on the wall, the internet, and the atlas.
2 two places you have lived with your spouse.
1. Port St. Lucie, FL (Club Med)
2. New Lebanon, NY (The Spencer House)
2 favorite vacations
1. Prince Edward Island with my family
2. Stowe, VT for our honeymoon

if he were a virtue, which one would he be?
Prudence. This is a practical, thinking man.

where were you when you had your first kiss?

I think we were by the pool late night at Club Med. We shared a lot of kisses there.

what school subject is he?

Recreational Leadership? I don't know if that is the official title, but you get the point, right?

what is his favorite piece of clothing?
His necklaces. He always has on some beads and some hemp.

which side of the bed does he sleep on?
The right side by Mollie and the phone (I sleep through everything).

would he rather bask in the sun or stomp in the puddles?
Puddles mean rain and rain means kayaking. When it starts to rain, our phone starts to ring.

what was the most wonderful vacation or adventure you had together?
I loved sharing a vacation with him and my family in PEI. We were all just chill and ate lobsters and walked on the beach and enjoyed each other. I am looking forward to another of these great adventures next week in Colorado.

what's his sign?
We are both Aries... and according to astrology that isn't a good combo... but what do they know?

what is his favorite dish to cook?
BREAKFAST!

what is the biggest surprise he ever gave you?
My engagement ring on a ski mountain.

what little thing does he do that you love, and has no idea that it makes you so happy?
He leaves me little notes often, but the best are the ones that he hides in my lunch box so I find them mid-day.

what does he drive and what does it say about him?
An '03 Honda Element. Its his 10th car. :-) It is perfect for kayaking, skiing, and especially Mollie. She was #1 in the decision process, I think.

does he read your blog?
yes. and I love when he comments.

if he is reading this now, what message do you want to send?
I am missing you and your cuddles. I can't wait to have some QT with you in Colorado and to begin our new journey in Maryland. I am more in love with you today than yesterday and hope always for that love to grow.

Self Portrait Challenge

Pop Art?

A challenge for sure, but I though this looked pretty cool, especially when you're working with limited software. :-)

Day 293

The move is on.

The U-Haul left today, thanks to the hard work of Todd, Jill, and Kevin yesterday... (and they deserve MANY thanks!) We managed to squeeze in most of our stuff with the truck and Todd's trailer...

Now, I will live in a pretty bare apartment and find out what is really essential.

Day 291

I am filled with a gentle sadness as more and more boxes get filled and Todd and I brace for our move. This was our last week-end here together in New Lebanon... and I feel so mixed... excitement for vacation, the end of the school year, the move... and happiness that Jill and Kevin are here visiting for a fun and laugh filled extravaganza... and still, a gentle sadness that we will be on our way and saying so many good-byes.

Here are some week-end hightlights:

I spent Friday night working on report cards and saturday-day, too... but in the evening we picked up Jill and Kevin for a late night dinner at home (approximately 10:30 p.s. EST). Sunday morning we woke up for a lazy breakfast, trip to the trashy flea market where I bought some old milk bottles (to store change)...
(oh, that was another highlight too, turning in $71 dollars of change- enough to buy our groceries!)
We took Mollie for a much needed walk and swim--- and with the warm weather I couldn't help but get in, too...
and then lazying around with margaritas and bocce for the remainder of the day. Jill and I were done for by 4 p.m. and we went for indian dinner in Williamstown followed by a bad concert in North Adams. It was all good fun.

My parents came over for brunch today and we ate and played croquet. We are certainly enjoying our yard this week-end.

Now, I am back into reports, looking forward to a nice dinner out tonight to celebrate Jill and Kevin's anniversary. Happy Anniversary guys!!!

Self Portrait Tuesday... a couple days late

A gardener, I am not. I hate the feel of dirt under my fingernails.

An egocentric... maybe. I now use the self portrait challenge as an opportunity to take pictures of myself in everyday, mundane activities.

Day 287

Overwhelmed

That is the word to describe my current state as I count the days down and pack my boxes.

There are only 2 days left until Jill and Kevin arrive and will help move our world to MD.
There are only 7 and a half days of school left.
There are only 18 days until I move out and head for Colorado. (yeah)
There are only 36 days until we report for duty in MD.

Can you believe it?
